Zearn Math earns top rating in New Mexico

December 2019
By Shalinee Sharma, Zearn CEO and Co-Founder

Leading up to the winter holiday, I wanted to share an exciting update: Following a rigorous review process by the state's Public Education Department, Zearn Math is now the only curriculum recommended for all grades K–5 in New Mexico. Teacher reviewers gave Zearn Math—including our 800+ student-facing digital lessons—a score of 95% or higher in every grade, describing Zearn as a comprehensive research-based curriculum that aligns with New Mexico state standards and meets all high-quality indicators.

Teachers specifically highlighted the cultural and linguistic relevance of Zearn Math lessons, something we at Zearn are particularly proud of. We work hard to represent the diversity found in classrooms across the country so all students can see someone similar to themselves doing math and persevering through challenges. Students and teachers of all genders and races, as well as students with disabilities, appear on-screen during software-based learning. Names used throughout all software and paper materials are thoughtfully selected so that no one group is over- or underrepresented or stereotyped within the context of a particular problem. These features of Zearn Math help all students engage in deep learning and feel they belong in the classroom math community.

This news from New Mexico echoes what we hear from the 300K+ teachers that use Zearn Math every day—teachers want high-quality instructional materials they can use to support and engage every learner in their classrooms, and Zearn Math is helping them do just that.

I wish you a joyous and restorative December holiday. You can always find our recent insights, announcements, and reviews on our News page.
