Frequently asked questions

How does Zearn Math work alongside my curriculum?

Zearn Math is designed to reinforce and deepen the grade-level learning students are doing with their teacher. New embedded Curriculum Companion Guides help teachers connect Zearn to their high-quality curriculum by identifying the Zearn Math Mission aligned to each curriculum unit. Once assigned, students work through a sequence of digital lessons that build deep understanding through the Concrete-Representational-Abstract progression, with adaptive support when they need it and opportunities to move ahead when concepts are clicking. Because teachers assign at the Mission level, students can work at their own pace while remaining focused on the same grade-level math they are learning in class. Together, Curriculum Companion Guides and real-time reports help teachers use Zearn as a companion to Tier 1 instruction.

How do teachers assign content in Zearn Math?
Arrow to learn how to use Zearn flexibly in summer programming

Teachers can use new, embedded Curriculum Companion Guides in Zearn’s platform to assign content connected to the curriculum unit they are teaching in class. Once a guide is pinned, teachers can access it directly from their Zearn Welcome Page, find the curriculum unit they are starting, and assign the connected Zearn Math Mission with just a few clicks. Students then work through the Mission in order — no daily lesson assignment required. At the start of each new curriculum unit, teachers return to the guide to check the recommended Mission. In some cases, students will continue in the same Mission; in others, teachers will assign a new one. Because assignments happen at the Mission level, students can work at their own pace while staying focused on the same grade-level math they are learning in class.
