Zearn Math in Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) is offering an opportunity for Nebraska schools to access Zearn Math for summer 2021 and the 2021-2022 school year. This page offers recorded trainings, video tutorials and family resources.

All schools that opt-in to the program will have full access to the Zearn Math Summer Intensive Series. The series leverages the essential math content students should master before starting grades 1-7 and can be used flexibly across summer school models. Zearn Math is aligned with the Nebraska’s College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics.

Learn about the program in the overview webinar below.

Materials checklist

Guidance on printed materials, manipulatives and technology.

Printed Materials: All of Zearn’s Teacher and Student-facing paper materials are available on the website for districts to print. Districts also have the option of purchasing one of our Student Workbooks which are $12 per student (Student Notes only) or $20 per student (Student Notes + Exit Tickets). These Workbooks have the full year of instructional materials, including our recommended summer content, so they could be used for Summer or for the full academic year.

Manipulatives: We list out all of the materials required for teacher-led instruction in our grade and mission overviews. There’s also a summary by grade in this resource. We would first encourage districts to take a look through this list and see if they have these materials already on hand – many are typical math materials. If not, districts have the option to purchase our Manipulative Kits from Hand2Mind. Also, keep in mind that the manipulatives are only needed when a district is planning to teach live instruction using the Small Group Lessons. If a district is planning to focus on Word Problems or Fluency, they would likely not need to have manipulatives on hand.

Technology: We list out all of the technology requirements including Operating System, Internet browser, internet bandwidth, etc. in our Technology Implementation Guide – this is a good resource to share with anyone who has questions on technology requirements.
