Assign Zearn Math content connected to the concepts students are learning in class

New for the 2026-27 school year, embedded Curriculum Companion Guides for all state-adopted materials help teachers assign content that is coherently connected to the grade-level concepts they are teaching with their high-quality curriculum.

Know when — and where — students need support.

The new LiveView classroom report gives teachers in-the-moment visibility into students’ learning on Zearn, with real-time alerts when students are struggling with grade-level content, so teachers can plan targeted support.

Frequently asked questions

How do teachers use Zearn Math to support classroom instruction?
Arrow to learn how to use Zearn flexibly in summer programming

Teachers use Zearn Math to reinforce and deepen the grade-level math concepts they are teaching in class. They assign students to the Zearn Math unit — called a “Mission” — connected to classroom instruction, and students progress through a guided sequence of lessons designed to build deep understanding. Along the way, students get the just-in-time support they need to engage and stay on track with grade-level work. Zearn’s design ensures learning stays coherently connected to teacher-led instruction; students are not navigating freely across unrelated content or rerouted to remedial, off-grade-level work. Real-time reports help teachers monitor engagement, identify where students need support, and step in when students are stuck. Each lesson also blends research-backed digital learning with handwritten problem solving, ensuring students can transfer their understanding beyond the screen.

No. Zearn Math does not include student-facing generative AI, chatbot-style interactions, or AI-generated responses in lessons. Students work through structured, grade-level lessons with active problem solving and written work. Zearn does not share personal student data with AI models.

When do students use Zearn Math?
Arrow to learn how to use Zearn flexibly in summer programming

Students use Zearn Math during the school day as part of core math instruction. Teachers assign lessons connected to the grade-level concepts they are teaching, and students log in during math blocks, intervention periods, or tutoring sessions to work through a guided sequence tied to classroom learning. Zearn Math is designed for structured, purposeful use alongside instruction, giving students additional opportunities to engage with grade-level math and build understanding.

How does Zearn Math work alongside my curriculum?
Arrow to learn how to use Zearn flexibly in summer programming

Zearn Math is designed as a companion to teacher’s instruction with their high-quality curriculum. Teachers assign students to the Zearn Math Mission that connects to the grade-level math concept they are teaching in their curriculum unit. Students work at their own pace through the Mission sequence, building deep understanding of connected math ideas and getting real-time support, so they can confidently engage in core math learning with their teacher and peers.

How do teachers assign content on Zearn Math?

Teachers assign Zearn Math content by selecting the Mission connected to the core math concept they are teaching in their curriculum unit. The Mission is assigned to the whole class, and students work through the lessons in order at their own pace — no daily assignment needed.

What curricula is Zearn Math based on?

Zearn Math K–5 content builds on Eureka Math and 6–8 content builds on Open Up Resources/Illustrative Mathematics. We chose the strongest OER foundation for each grade band. Over the last decade, we’ve strengthened the digital lessons to better support grade-level learning, informed by patterns across billions of completed problems on our platform and educator feedback. As a nonprofit, we continuously improve Zearn rather than revising in occasional “edition cycles.”

Across all grades, Zearn is consistent in how we support students to build deep understanding of grade-level math. Students learn math concepts with guided instruction and interactive problem solving based on the research-backed concrete-to-pictorial-to-abstract learning (CPA) progression and complete fluency activities in every lesson to build strong foundations. Every lesson also embeds paper-and-pencil work to ensure students transfer their learning beyond the screen.

How do teachers know when students are stuck?

Zearn’s platform includes real-time reports and built-in alerts that help teachers quickly identify when students are struggling. As students work through lessons, the LiveView report shows students’ progress in real time. Teachers can see which students are actively working, where they are in a Mission, and who may be stuck. Zearn’s platform also alerts teachers when students have difficulty with a specific problem or concept. These alerts help teachers pinpoint exactly where students are struggling — so they can step in with targeted support.

What data and reporting does Zearn Math include?

Zearn’s platform provides real-time reports that give teachers and leaders clear, actionable insight into student learning. Educators can track lesson completion, areas of struggle, and overall progress through grade-level content, helping them monitor engagement, identify where students need support, and intervene in the moment. Dashboards like the Class Snapshot make it easy to track and celebrate students’ progress toward grade-level learning goals. This same visibility extends to school and district leaders, enabling consistent implementation and support across classrooms. All data is used to support teaching and learning and is protected with strong privacy safeguards.
