Seventh grade students develop strategies for working with and understanding whole numbers, mixed numbers, and ratios

Proportional Relationships & Percentages

14 Lessons | Grade 7 Mission 4

The Grade 7 lessons focus on a big idea introduced in Grade 7: proportional relationships. Proportional relationships are revisited and extended in Grade 8 to introduce students to the concept of a function, which is arguably the most important concept students will study for the remainder of their mathematical careers.

Rising 8th graders solve rational number arithmetic problems
7th grade skills built around rational number operations using the number system to represent different expressions

Rational Number Arithmetic

15 Lessons | Grade 7 Mission 5

Arithmetic with signed numbers is another big idea introduced in Grade 7. In these lessons, students work to become more fluent in writing different numerical addition and subtraction equations that express the same relationship.

7th grade math - expressions, equations, and inequalities.
Divide and distribute numerical and algebraic expression with rational numbers and positive and negative integers
7th grade math lesson plans - Seventh grade students work with numerical and algebraic expressions

Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities

22 Lessons | Grade 7 Mission 6

Students learn algebraic methods for solving equations and develop a certain degree of fluency with rational arithmetic and solving multi-step equations to prepare to focus on the new learning of Grade 8.
